Saba Qamar Opens Up About Her Health Scare
Renowned Pakistani actress Saba Qamar has revealed that she recently suffered a minor heart attack caused by severe mental stress. The acclaimed film and television star shared the revelation during a candid interview, where she also discussed her career, emotional well-being, and the importance of mental health awareness.
According to Pakistan’s Geo News, the actress said that her health deteriorated due to prolonged emotional strain. She disclosed that she underwent an angiography the day after the heart episode and is now recovering well.
We all think we are very strong and can face anything, Saba said. But one day, this stress can turn into a heart attack, anxiety, or depression. She has previously spoken about the importance of open conversations on mental health, saying that talking about mental health is a sign of strength, not weakness — a message she discussed in detail in this interview.
Mental Stress Can Be Just as Dangerous
The 40-year-old actress emphasized that heart attacks are not always linked to cholesterol or poor diet alone. There can be 20 different causes of a heart attack, she explained. Sometimes, it is emotional stress and pressure that affect your body the most. We should never ignore mental health.
Saba’s remarks have sparked widespread discussion online, with fans and celebrities commending her openness about an issue often considered taboo in South Asian society. Mental health advocacy has gradually gained momentum in Pakistan, but many still avoid speaking publicly about anxiety, depression, and emotional burnout.
Hospitalization During Filming
Saba also reminded her fans that she had been hospitalized on August 1 this year after feeling unwell during a shoot. Doctors advised her to take a month-long break from work to rest and recover.
The actress, known for her acclaimed performances in dramas such as Baaghi and Cheekh, said the experience made her reevaluate her priorities. Health comes first, she said, adding that she now pays more attention to self-care and emotional balance.
A Call for Mental Health Awareness
Saba Qamar’s revelation serves as a reminder of the growing mental health crisis among professionals working under intense pressure. According to the World Health Organization, stress-related cardiovascular issues are on the rise globally, particularly among younger adults.
Her message — that mental and physical health are deeply connected — has resonated widely with fans, inspiring calls for greater awareness and open dialogue on emotional well-being in Pakistan’s entertainment industry and beyond.
