The Spider-Man: Brand New Day star says Justin Bieber was his childhood celebrity obsession and that the pop singer’s iconic look inspired him to copy his hairstyle when he was around 11 or 12.

Justin Bieber Was Tom Holland’s Childhood Idol

British actor Tom Holland has opened up about his childhood celebrity obsession, revealing that pop star Justin Bieber was someone he greatly admired while growing up.

Holland, who currently stars as Spider-Man in the Marvel franchise, recalled being fascinated by Bieber’s appearance and style when he was a child.

The actor made the revelation during a pop quiz segment on Celebrity Substitute, a digital series produced by Good Morning America and hosted by Julian Shapiro-Barnum.

‘I Thought He Was the Coolest Guy’

During the segment, Holland was asked which celebrity he had been obsessed with while growing up.

The 30-year-old actor immediately named Bieber and spoke fondly about the influence the singer had on him during his childhood.

“I thought he was the coolest guy I had ever seen in my life.”

Holland explained that his admiration went beyond simply listening to Bieber’s music. He also attempted to imitate the singer’s distinctive hairstyle after watching one of his most popular music videos.

‘Baby’ Inspired His Hairstyle

Holland specifically recalled watching Bieber’s 2010 hit song “Baby” when he was approximately 11 or 12 years old.

The music video left such an impression on him that he decided to try recreating Bieber’s hairstyle himself.

“I tried to do my hair like his. And I don’t have hair like his, so it didn’t really work,”

Holland joked while recalling the childhood attempt.

The light-hearted confession offered fans a glimpse into a much younger Holland, long before he became internationally famous for portraying Spider-Man.

Holland Shares Childhood Memories With Students

The revelation came while Holland appeared as a guest “substitute teacher” on Celebrity Substitute, where he visited an elementary school in New York.

During the appearance, the actor taught students about movie stunts while also taking part in the show’s playful questions and activities.

The setting gave Holland an opportunity to share some personal stories from his childhood, including his admiration for Bieber.

From Bieber Fan to Hollywood Star

Holland’s story highlights how celebrities can influence young fans long before those fans become stars themselves.

Today, Holland is one of Hollywood’s most recognisable actors, best known for playing Peter Parker in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day and other Marvel films. He is also starring in The Odyssey.

His childhood admiration for Bieber provides a relatable reminder that even major Hollywood stars once looked up to celebrities and tried to imitate the trends they saw in popular culture.
